The Kitzbuehel tennis club is one of the most traditional tennis clubs in Austria. As early as 1889, a tennis tournament was held in the Gamsstadt.

The tennis sport is suitable for people of all ages, keeps fit and healthy and above all fun. The vision of the Kitzbühel tennis club is to train young people so that they can later be used in the various teams of the KTC.

On May 19, 2021, the opening of the new club house of the Kitzbühel tennis club took place just in time for the catering opening after the Corona Lockdown.

The KTC built a modern and cozy meeting place for its club members, locals, guests and sports enthusiasts: the KTC clubhouse with green area.

As is well known, it is not only sport that counts in club life, but also social interaction between young and old, sociability must have its place.

The (new) construction of a “home” in the form of a cozy clubhouse is a basic requirement, a space for encounters and exchanges was created.

It was important for the Kitzbühel tennis club to create a place where the youngsters benefit from the experiences of the older ones, where common plans can be forged and dreams come true.

“We wanted to create a place for club members, but also for non-members, for locals and guests of our city.

They should all feel comfortable in a place where not only sport but also togetherness counts, ”reported KTC President Markus Bodner and Vice President Geri Mitterer.

At the opening on May 19 the board of the KTC allowed the mayor of Kitzbühel, Dr. Klaus Winkler, the Vice Mayors Ing. Gerhard Eilenberger and Walter Zimmermann, Count Max Lamberg and the chairman of Kitzbühel Tourism Dr. Greet Christian Harisch.

All guests were enthusiastic about the successful, modern and high-quality construction. “This place will certainly be a cozy meeting point for athletes, not only for tennis players, but also for cyclists and hikers”, one was sure on the first evening.

The long-time tennis club members Anita Krimbacher and Mark Ellis have been won as tenants of the clubhouse, wishing them all the best and handing over the keys to the clubhouse.

“Especially and also in the current times, which are not easy due to the coronavirus, it was important for us to be able to carry out this project.

We at the Kitzbühel Tennis Club are happy about our new club home and would like to thank the municipality of Kitzbühel, the tourism association, the executing companies, all supporters and sponsors, and we are looking forward to many sporty and sociable hours, ”the KTC executive team concluded.

A touch of normality: Generali Open Kitzbühel plans with fans on site

Thanks to the nationwide relaxation, the Generali Open Kitzbühel can hope for a well-filled center court with at least 3000 spectators on the date from July 24th to 31st. “From July there will even be the possibility of even more approved fans on site.

We are pleased that we can play in front of an audience in Kitzbühel this summer and that we will again have a great atmosphere and thus something of normality on the Center Court.

We are currently preparing all the necessary steps and concepts in order to be able to start advance ticket sales for the first days of the tournament in coordination with the local authorities and as soon as possible ”, explain the tournament organizers Herbert Günther and Markus Bodner.

As already communicated, the tickets from the summer event in the previous year remain valid for this year’s 77th edition of the traditional tournament.

500 new seats for the Kitzbühel tennis stadium

In the past two years, KTC Tournament GmbH has already used the city’s subsidies to invest them – step by step – in renovation work. In order to be able to realize the complex but necessary projects in the stadium, which is owned by the city of Kitzbühel, the organizers of the tennis tournament contribute funds annually.

So far, a complex shading solution has been implemented on the east stand, as well as the construction of important infrastructure for live TV broadcasts.

This year the south stand of the stadium has been redesigned. Around 500 seats were renewed, an investment of around 55,000 euros: “The funding from the city goes into reinvestments every year and thus benefits the tournament and other organizers directly.
